About 'Passport To Music'
With the creation of Crystal Cruises’ Creative Learning Institute, Yamaha was asked to design a keyboard class specifically for Crystal’s fleet of award-winning ships. Passport To Music made its debut on Crystal Serenity’s Inaugural cruise in July 2003. Since that time more than 6,000 students have experienced the satisfaction and joy of making music, many for the very first time.
Is a Crystal cruise in your future? Is learning the piano (or keyboard) something you’ve always wanted to do? Passport To Music is an introductory class, designed for those with little or no musical experience. It’s presented by carefully selected teachers—who understand that you’re on vacation—and they will strive to make your “musical journey” a fun, rewarding, and no-stress enhancement to your cruise. Many aspects of music are presented, including playing by ear, note reading, basic music theory, and how to use today’s technology to sound great without effort.
The classes are held on sea days or partial sea days, so you need not give up any port adventures. The number of sea days will dictate how many classes are offered on any given cruise; typically an 11 or 12 day cruise will allow for 3 or more classes. Even a single class will allow you to “kick the tires” and try your hand at the piano.
Interested in a more serious approach? Guests on Crystal’s World Cruises of 100 days or more can attend progressive classes and special workshops throughout the cruise. Just think how much can be accomplished in 100 days!
Have you “been there, done that?” Many Passport To Music students have requested a more advanced class for those who have completed the original program. We’re working on it, and you’ll be able to read about our progress right here on PTMKeys.com in “What’s New.”
